I'm so excited!!!

Remember that episode of "Saved by the Bell?" Hilarious...

Anyway, peeps, I just wanted to let everyone know how excited I am. I feel like that will more than likely be an underlying theme for nearly all of my blogs, but oh well. If you're reading this, then you should understand how exciting these shenanigans are!

Tonight, we're playing our second show at Maple Leaf this month. What's totally awesome about this show is that we'll be donating 100% of the proceeds from the show to WWOZ for their annual fund drive. It helps keep the music of New Orleans alive, which is clearly a huge priority for all of us.

As with all of our Maple Leaf shows this month, the first ten people to arrive will get a free copy of our previous album, "Southern Fried Soul."

We're super excited (there's that word again) about tonight, not only because of WWOZ, but also because we get to play new stuff from our upcoming album, "Magnolia Blue." It's coming out in April, but we wanted to hit y'all up with some of the goods early so that by the time you buy your CD and bump it in your car, you can sing along with the windows down and spread the musical wealth throughout the neighborhood. Holla.

I have class now (last semester!), so I'll cut myself off. I love y'all! See you tonight!!

Love & Luck,

Mia

A little baby blog...

Just to start this whole blogging thing off, I thought I'd do a little baby one.

I was just writing our monthly newsletter and it is filled with shows. I mean, it's bananas. Maple Leaf, WWOZ in-studio, we're heading back to the Rusty Nail after entirely too long. This month is going to be fantastic.

The last time I went to WWOZ was my very first radio interview (and you could totally tell). I said something along the lines of: our band started as a hobby of sorts and now it's snowballed into something really awesome and life-changing. While I got made fun of by some of my peeps for saying that, I stand by it.

This wasn't anything that I imagined would ever become my job. I thought that would be far too amazing to actually happen to me, but it has. What was once a pastime/pet project with my friends has become my life with my friends, and I'm really proud of us. We've done some amazing things in the past four years and it seems to be really paying off in 2010.

We have an amazing album coming out if April (advanced copies in March if you're lucky...) and it's definitely our best material yet. What's even crazier is that I can't stop writing, even though it hasn't come out yet. I'm ready to record the next one!!

I should pace myself. This is turning into a not-so-baby-sized blog. For the time being, I'm out like Ellen.

Love & Luck,

Mia

http://www.miaborders.com
